Sul Progetto On the Project
In Brasile, Lucinete è un nome proprio femminile che può essere interpretato come «colei che porta la luce». Quel nome è diventato, nel tempo, il simbolo di una presenza silenziosa, di una comunità che nasce proprio dall’insieme delle luci di ogni individuo che la compone. Il progetto osserva le vite di giovani e famiglie di una comunità del Nordest del Brasile, che si muovono tra assenze, vulnerabilità e relazioni complesse, in condizioni di precarietà sociale ed economica. Più che raccontare una condizione sociale, Lucinete cerca di restituire la quotidianità delle persone incontrate. Un racconto semplice, costruito attraverso i piccoli gesti, gli affetti, le attese e le fragilità che compongono la vita di una comunità. È una riflessione sulla crescita, sull’assenza e sulle forme di resistenza che emergono nella vita quotidiana.
In Brazil, Lucinete is a female given name that can be interpreted as “she who brings light.” Over time, the name came to symbolize a quiet presence, a community shaped by the individual lights of the people who make it up. The project observes the lives of young people and families within a community in northeastern Brazil, navigating absence, vulnerability, and complex relationships in the context of social and economic hardship. Rather than merely documenting a social condition, Lucinete seeks to portray the everyday lives of the people encountered. It is a simple narrative, woven from the small gestures, affections, hopes, and the fragilities that make up the life of a community. It is a reflection on growing up, absence, and the forms of resistance that emerge in everyday life.
Sull'Artista On the Artist
Camilla Pedretti (Como 2000) dopo gli studi in fotografia all’Istituto Europeo di Design di Milano, nel 2022 entra in contatto con il collettivo fotografico indipendente Cesura, dove fino al 2025 ricopre il ruolo di assistente di uno dei fotografi membri. Nello stesso anno, partecipa a una residenza artistica parte del progetto I Talìa di Cesura, sviluppando un lavoro dedicato alla comunità arbëreshë della provincia cosentina e alla quotidianità di territori in cui le tradizioni continuano a dialogare con il presente. La sua ricerca si concentra sulla fotografia documentaria e sulle dinamiche sociali, con particolare attenzione alla quotidianità e alle relazioni che definiscono il senso di comunità. Lucinete è un progetto che porta avanti in Brasile dal 2025. Il suo lavoro è stato esposto al festival Fotografia Europea 2024, nell’ambito del progetto Speciale Diciottoventicinque, ed è stato pubblicato in Baby Go di Cesura Publish. All’interno della collana editoriale And Other Chapters di Cesura Publish, esce ora il volume Lucinete.
Camilla Pedretti (b. 2000, Como, Italy) studied photography at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan. In 2022 she began collaborating with the independent photography collective Cesura, where she worked as an assistant to one of its members until 2025. In the same year, she took part in an artist residency within Cesura’s I Talìa project, developing a body of work dedicated to the Arbëreshë community of the Italian province of Cosenza and to the everyday life of territories where tradition continues to interact with the present. Her research focuses on documentary photography and social dynamics, with particular attention to everyday life and the relationships that shape a sense of community. Lucinete is a project that she has been developing in Brazil since 2025. Her work was exhibited at Fotografia Europea 2024 as part of the Speciale Diciottoventicinque project and has been published in Baby Go by Cesura Publish. Lucinete has just been published as part of Cesura Publish’s series And Other Chapters.
