Sul Progetto On the Project
La memoria è anche al centro di Occult, dove Alba Zari affronta la storia della propria famiglia all'interno della setta Children of God. Attraverso fotografie, documenti e materiali d'archivio, il progetto indaga il rapporto tra identità, controllo e costruzione della verità, mostrando come la conoscenza del passato possa diventare uno strumento di emancipazione. Occult indaga il corpo della donna, il modo in cui viene strumentalizzato e anche su quanto sia radicata la nozione per cui il corpo non è nostro ma sempre di qualcun altro: di un uomo, di un dio, di un figlio.
Memory is also at the heart of Occult, in which Alba Zari explores her family's history within the Children of God cult. Through photographs, documents, and archival materials, the project investigates the relationship between identity, control, and the construction of truth, showing how knowledge of the past can become a tool for emancipation. Occult also examines the female body, the ways in which it is instrumentalized, and how deeply rooted the notion remains that the body does not belong to us, but always to someone else: a man, a god, or a child.
Sull'Artista On the Artist
Alba Zari, fotografa e documentarista nasce in Thailandia dove vive fino all'età di 8 anni. In Italia abita prima a Trieste, poi a Bologna dove si laurea al DAMS in cinematografia per poi specializzarsi in fotografia e visual design alla NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di Milano, proseguendo gli studi in fotografia documentaria all'International Center of Photography di New York. Nei suoi lavori, c'è tutta la riflessione e la sua sensibilità artistica ed un approccio alla complessità della mente umana e un costante dialogo tra passato e presente, memoria e innovazione, tra umano e IA, tra verità ed autenticità.
Alba Zari, a photographer and documentary artist, was born in Thailand, where she lived until the age of eight. In Italy, she first lived in Trieste and later in Bologna, where she earned a degree in Film Studies from DAMS. She then specialized in Photography and Visual Design at NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, before continuing her studies in Documentary Photography at the International Center of Photography in New York. Her work is deeply rooted in reflection and artistic sensitivity, exploring the complexity of the human mind through a constant dialogue between past and present, memory and innovation, the human and AI, truth and authenticity.
